Climate Resilience in Action: How Bonsucro and Partners Are Pioneering Change

The urgency for business-led climate action has never been more pressing, particularly in global agricultural supply chains. As COP30 unfolds, Bonsucro, the international leader in sustainable sugarcane has announced its involvement in a significant expansion of the Climate Resilience Platform (CRP), partnering with the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, and Better Cotton Initiative. This joint endeavour originally established by Pepsico, Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR), and the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, the Climate Resilience Platform will put powerful tools in the hands of producers w

Climate resilience is now critical for farmers and agri-businesses who face mounting volatility. The Climate Resilience Platform (CRP) translates leading climate research into practical, locally relevant interventions, enabling producers across Latin America, Southern Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and cotton growers in India and Brazil to anticipate yield risks and create resilience plans that make a difference. Bonsucro members gain direct access to innovative resources designed to turn risk awareness into strategic, adaptive action for everyday business. At the heart of this initiative is collaboration. As an open-access platform powered by CGIAR, the world’s largest public agricultural partnership, the Climate Resilience Platform (CRP) draws on globally recognised climate data, modelling, and expertise to deliver credible, unbiased insights trusted by producers in over 100 countries. This approach exemplifies the Business Fights Poverty ethos: practical, inclusive solutions, shared knowledge, and scalable impact for a more resilient future.

Danielle Morley, CEO of Bonsucro, affirms that “bringing cutting-edge public research together with producers and partners fuels innovation and strengthens food and energy systems at a pivotal moment for agriculture. By collaborating with Better Cotton, the platform will bring tested climate action tools to cotton supply chains, accelerating adaptation and supporting millions of farmers”. Their partnership builds on grant support from the ISEAL Innovations Fund, backed by Swiss and UK international development agencies, ensuring sustainable systems deliver impact at scale.

Transformation requires both technology and people-centred strategies. Through the Climate Resilience Platform (CRP), farmers and businesses across regions go beyond “making the case” for resilience, they embed new solutions into their daily operations, ready to meet the challenges of climate change. As COP30 sharpens global attention on climate risk, this model of open, collaborative action stands as an invitation to other leaders in business and social impact to prioritise solutions that deliver for both people and planet.
