Watch our film to hear Wandile Solombela‘s story, meet some of the Shwe Shwe Poppis employees, and see what difference entrepreneurship is making in Soweto.
Vilakazi Street is a bustling thoroughfare in the enormous township of Soweto in Johannesburg. Two Nobel Peace Prize winners have lived here – Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. The suburb of Zola, not too far away from here, is home to a young entrepreneur also building a brighter future for South Africa. His name is Wandile Solombela and he built his Shwe Shwe Poppi dolls business to provide employment and build self-esteem for people in the local community.
This week is Global Entrepreneurship Week. We’ll be sharing lots more content about entrepreneurship here on the Virgin Unite site!
But for now, you can view another film about an inspiring entrepreneur – this is Portia’s story.
Additionally, find out more about our Branson Centres of Entrepreneurship and how you can support them!
