THE CHALLENGE
In India and around the world, people, companies, civil society organisations and governments, are accelerating support to those most affected. Time is of the essence, and the focus is on urgently getting life-saving items to those who need them.

The challenges faced by those who want to help are three-fold: understanding (a) the specific, detailed needs; (b) where to procure the needed items at the required quantity and quality, and/or (c) how to get them to people who need them.

With our corporate and business network partners, we have set up a Rapid Response Facility that addresses all three of these challenges, while also ensuring quality, a better price, accountability and coordination of supply and delivery.

HOW WE CAN HELP
Have you already raised funds to buy items to meet immediate or medium term needs? By aggregating your order with our existing orders, we can:

secure lower prices

save on shipping costs
check_box
provide a trusted end-to-end delivery route
Alternatively, you can add new funding or enable direct employee giving into the Rapid Response Fund we have set up to increase the current orders of life-saving equipment.
HOW IT WORKS
Through a trusted corporate and NGO network that we have built up over 15+ years, we have put in place the following multi-stakeholder, end-to-end approach:

NEEDS IDENTIFICATION
Working with State, District and/or National Government our partners are providing detailed lists of immediate and verified needs. For example, CARE India is working with government partners in multiple States, including in rural settings. We are constantly drawing in additional insights from our network.

PROCUREMENT
Crown Agents, a non-profit with 187 years’ experience, is procuring items as quickly as possible. Our partners are funding the cost of specific items (including procurement and shipping), or contributing towards the procurement and shipping cost of the full list. For example, Mars and Primark are purchasing items to add to a combined order.

LOGISTICS

PROCUREMENT
If you have already raised funding to meet immediate needs, combine your order with existing ones. We’ll add these to the current procurement and logistics pipeline - and thereby secure lower prices, save on shipping costs and provide a trusted end-to-end delivery route.

We are also inviting partners to provide additional funding, or encourage direct employee giving, to cover the cost of specific items, or the procurement and delivery costs of our full, current order list.

LOGISTICS

UNDERSTANDING NEEDS
Our understanding of immediate needs is informed by trusted in-country corporate and NGO partners who are engaging with District, State and/or National Government. These needs are constantly evolving, and are also very specific to the local context. In general terms, the immediate priority is for:
Oxygen Equipment
Oxygen generators, concentrators (including Flow meters, regulators, connectors and tubings), cylinders, oxymeters, BiPap ventilators, oxygen masks, and nasal prongs.
Oxygen Transport and Storage
Cryogenic tanks and tankers.
Emergency Medicines
Remdesivir, Tocilizumab, Dexamethazone and Fabiflu (subject to local medical advice).
Other Emergency Supplies
ICU medical staff, ambulances, makeshift hospitals, non-rebreathable masks, and PPE.
NOTE: The Indian Government has waived duties on the import of certain oxygen related equipment and COVID vaccines until and including 31 July: https://snipbfp.org/2SpwF6Y . The Indian Ministry of Corporate Affairs has announced that all spending by corporates related to setting up makeshift hospitals and temporary COVID-19 care facilities will be considered under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.
Looking ahead, we will also be addressing a range of other adjacent and medium-term needs - from access to vaccines to preventive health and hygiene products and messaging. We are also looking to extend our focus to other countries and regions as the situation evolves. We invite you to join our coalition as we broaden our focus.
PARTNER WITH US TO ACCELERATE AND SCALE OUR COLLECTIVE IMPACT
We invite you to get involved. Given the scale and urgency of the challenge, we believe that we must collaborate rapidly across borders and sectors.

The Rapid Response Facility is designed to accelerate and scale action by harnessing our combined core competencies, knowledge, resources and networks.

Around the world, COVID has had devastating impacts, especially for the most vulnerable people. At the same time, it has shown the strength of the human spirit and the power of what we can achieve and overcome together.
