CONTACT US
UNCCD, with Business Fights Poverty and Aduna, are bringing together partners in sustainable sourcing to accelerate progress in building livelihoods and tackling desertification in Africa. We are excited by innovative sourcing examples that have opened up new markets while strengthening resilience.

We are inviting companies to join in making the GREAT GREEN WALL (GGW) a pillar of collaborative sustainable impact.

The GGW is a symbol of hope in the face of desertification, one of the foremost challenges of our time that is holding back livelihoods across the Sahel. Once complete, the Wall will be the largest living structure on the planet: a grown world wonder, stretching across the continent of Africa. Fuelled by natural ingredient innovation, the GGW will boost smallholder farmers’ incomes and enable the Sahel region to prosper.
We are inviting a small number of leading companies to join us in exploring together how to make this vision a reality.
We are seeking participants who can align both on the ambition and engage in practical pathways to action. We welcome those who are far from certain about how to realise that ambition. This process is about getting started, and about sharing learning to help each other on the way.

Together, we propose to explore opportunities for innovation in sourcing, for strengthening the enabling environment, and for tapping into existing funding sources to help accelerate this process. We will also share best practice and show how this can be applied to help deliver rapid change for communities and realise companies’ SDG commitments.
LAND. LIFE. LEGACY.
FROM SCARCITY TO PROSPERITY

The UNCCD COP15 meeting in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire in May 2022 offers a critical moment in realising this opportunity.

COP15 is a pivotal moment to rally and unite the world around the vision of a land-degradation neutral world. In this vision, natural land is preserved, degrading land is recovered and put to sustainable use, and ecosystems and biodiversity are made resilient to the coming effects of climate change.”

Ibrahim Thiaw, Executive Secretary, UNCCD

The overarching ambition of this collaboration is designed to contribute towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), on time and on target, with rewards for businesses and communities alike.
